How to Add a Private Channel or Group

To add a channel or group to the plugin settings a Telegram Channel or Group ID is needed.

I Already Know My Channel or Group ID #

If you already have your channel or group ID, then you can enter it into the Channel/Group ID field. However, in most cases you won’t know the Channel or Group ID. Luckily, the Subscriber Manager for Telegram plugin includes a semi-automated way to retrieve the ID of your private channel or group.

Adding a Channel or Group in the Lite Version #

Assuming your bot is already invited to your private channel or group, click on the Get ID button to initiate the process. You will see a popup message in your browser with the instruction to edit a message in the private Telegram channel or group. Specifically, Please post a message in your Telegram channel or group and then edit it. Then click "Get Channel ID" again.

Click OK on the message popup and go to your private channel or group in Telegram and edit any message. You can also create a new test message, post it, then make a small edit to the message. (These can be deleted after this process is complete).

Navigate back to the Subscriber Manager for Telegram plugin settings page, and click on the Get ID button again. You should now see a success message popup. Click OK, and the ID should then appear in the Channel/Group ID field. Set a name in the Channel/Group Name field, then save the changes. This name does not have to match the actual Telegram Channel or Group name, and can be anything you want. It’s used as an internal reference, and shown to users when providing invite links to the groups or channels.

Adding a Channel or Group in the Pro Version #

The settings for the Pro version of the Subscriber Manager for Telegram plugin work in exactly the same way, with the only difference being you’re able to add multiple private channels or groups. Follow the same steps for retrieving the channel or group ID’s for each channel or group. The channel or group ID will be added to the Channel/Group ID field next to the corresponding Get ID button clicked.
